Fed: One in four abused children will suffer further abuse

A report's found that one in four children who have already been abused will sufferfurther abuse during their childhood.

The Child and Family Welfare Association of Australia report says child protectionservices provided by the states and territories are failing to prevent further abuse.

It's also found more than 10 per cent of abused children suffer further abuse within 12 months.

The association's chairman SIMON SCHRAPEL has called on the federal government to stepin and co-ordinate a new national response to dealing with child abuse victims.
