BUSH GAINS GROUND IN DEMOCRAT BLOCS.(MAIN)

WASHINGTON -- Republican George W. Bush is making dramatic inroads into traditional Democratic constituencies to lead Democrat Al Gore 48 percent to 42 percent in the presidential race, according to a bipartisan survey released Thursday.

The Voter.com-Battleground 2000 survey conducted by Democratic pollster Celinda Lake and Republican pollster Ed Goeas showed that voter anxiety over moral values and the direction of the nation -- rather than proposed solutions for specific problems -- is helping the Texas governor garner support among once-loyal Democratic voting blocs.
