Qld: Govt goes back to drawing board on North Bank=2

Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg told state parliament the government should scrap
the North Bank project.

Mr Springborg said the government had botched the planning process and in making its
announcement about a design review "invented a new way of doing business in Queensland".

"We need to know what process the government followed ... what are the contracts and
details here for Multiplex, is the government locked in and what is the impact of this
on Queensland taxpayers?" Mr Springborg told parliament.

"This whole process has been a shambles from day one.

"They've now locked Queenslanders in on a process that is not getting the best outcome.

"Maybe the best thing to do is to do away with that whole anachronism which is going
to be the North Bank redevelopment, and take away what is going to be an absolute blight
on this city, not withstanding what is going to be a very, very serious flood issue."
